Art 1 Final Portfolio

1.   Which project was your favorite or most successful this semester? Please explain.
My favorite project for this semester was the landscape painting. I feel that it was the most sucessful one I have done in this class. I choose my colors carefully. This project really helped me learn how to mix my colors. My favorite part about this painting is the sand. It has multiple colors in it. As you can see I used a darker blue going towards the mountains because the sun wasnt shining there. It is also the mountains shadow that it casted.

2.    Regardless of whether you liked or disliked a project, which one did you learn, grow, or developed the most from? Please explain.
The clay tile painting was another really good project I did. This made me learn alot on creating texture. As you can see I wanted to make it 3D so I made the coral pop out and then put little holes in it because coral has pores in it. Also I made the sea grass come out from the clay tile because I think it wouldnt have looked as good just draw on the tile. The turtle shell has much texture. It has the outline of the indents in it like a real turtles shell would. I put the bubbles in the tile because it makes it look more relestic. This was also one of my favorite projects.

3.    Choose 1 piece of Art that you used skills and techniques learned from previous projects. Discuss your growth as an artist and how you incorporated these skills and techniques to create the piece.
This project made me learn how to do shadowing. I decided the best way for my to learn it is to choose something I see everyday, and that is also tall. With everyone in the class doing this project I also learned how to do it from different angles. I really enjoyed learning how to shade because now i can draw more nature things and it look more releastic as oppose to cartoonish. I think that I need to practice more with shadowing before im good at it. I also I wanted to do a starbucks cup. Maybe that will be my next sketch. I really enjoyed doing this because it taught me alot about not only shading but value. I hope to do one like this again in the near future.

4.    Which project do you feel was the least important in learning the concepts taught in this course? Please explain.
I absolutely hated this project. I found no point in painting it. also I really hated it because we had to use water colors and I am not good with water colors and then we had to go over it with colored pencil. It was a waste of time I think and that we should have painted something else instead of board games. I think it would have been better if we painted something that we have chosen. I feel like it didnt teach us anything and all it did was just make a mess every where. I strongly dislike water color. In the future I think that the teacher should choose a different project instead of that. That is why I dont like this project.

5.  Choose a piece or artwork where the subject matter reflects you as an artist. One that you have a personal connection to. Please explain your choice.
The chalk project reflects me as an artist. It was all about working with a group and I love working with other people because we all have different ideas. We all helped each other create certain things on the wall. i like how when we work as a group, your partners help and support you. I like to talk and have fun and my group was a lot of fun to talk to. We would all help each other do certain things that other people dint know how to do. I also liked it because we got to learn from your peeps instead of the teacher always teaching you. I would want to do a project like that again.
